Weaving the Wool onto the Loom to Create Navajo Rug

The next step in the traditional process of weaving a Navajo rug is weaving the yarn onto the loom as shown below. This process is very sacred to the Navajo people. One has to have a special blessing since growing up as a youth. Weaving is in the prayer and songs of the Dine' (Navajo) people. There is no exact science like writing on paper or written calculations of how the yarn is woven into the loom. It is all done from memory. This traditonal process is part of the oral traditions of the Navajo people. Rose Jackson shows her loom that is weaving a Navajo rug.
